Egg Nog Jog is only days away… Enjoy the scenery and the hills
Just a quick shout out to all our Bender friends racing in Ottawa this weekend for the Ottawa Race Weekend . This is a popular race in our nation’s capital and it looks like the weather will be great, maybe even a bit hot. Good luck to everyone racing this one!
Tomorrow is a big race day in the GTA. We have the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon in Toronto and the Mississauga Marathon in Mississauga. Why these two races are on the same day and in such close proximity, I have no idea. Every year we have our group picking which of these 2 races they will be doing. This year is no exception and we have Bender representation at both races. So good luck to all our Bender friends running these races. The weather looks like it will be another beauty of a day. Enjoy it!
We have finally got some good weather and today was a beauty. It is about time! It seemed the winter would never end but alas it is only April so we know it will get colder before it gets hotter. That is ok though because that fresh spring weather is perfect for running. That fresh spring weather is what we hope for for all our Bender runners participating in one of several races coming up.
First up we have 2 races tomorrow. We have the Toronto Yonge St. 10K. A fast downhill course in, you guessed it, Toronto. We also have the Run4Hope right here in Brampton. This is a nice small race that is always lots of fun.
Of course we can not forget to mention the Boston Marathon. The race so many marathon runners aim to qualify for. We have 5 Benders down for the race this year. This year Randall, Todd, Ivar, Amanda and Beth will be running the race. For those wondering how to get live race coverage, you can check out this link. What an exciting race this must be.
We wish everyone racing the best of luck and the best weather. Have a great race all!
Tomorrow is the Chilly Half and the Frosty 5K. This is a great race out of Burlington that happens at the beginning of March and a lot of runners use this as a pre-race run to Around the Bay.
The Benders usually have a great presence at both of these great races and tomorrow’s Chilly is no exception. I don’t know the exact number (last minute changes and such) but I believe we have something like 29 members participating. What a great turn out! The weather is calling for somewhat “mild” temperatures for the race. Considering we have been in an Arctic deep freeze most of the winter I think anything is better than – 38. Who is ready for winter to end??
We would like to wish each and every one of our Benders a fantastic race tomorrow!! Have a great time!
This year runners will have a break from the giant hill at the end of the Around the Bay Race. This race is pretty much known for that hill but unfortunately (or fortunately) construction in the area will not be done in time for the race. Runners will take an alternative route running back in to Hamilton via Plains Rd. Don’t worry though runner friends, there are still the rolling hills of North Shore. See the article here.
