Congratulations to the Hamilton and New York Runners!
Hope you ran well in New York Shana, looking forward to your stories. And Hamilton…..brutal! Pouring and driving rain at the start, and what about that hard 20 km wind! It sure wore you down, but we finished.
Now a brief lull between the big races.
We have the Egg Nog Jog coming up Dec 10. Guess what, it’s SOLD OUT. We do have 18 Benders registered. Way to go! We can all still enjoy the event, either as Runners or Cheering Section.
Be sure to come out to the Running Room in Bramalea this Wednesday for a group run as we will be presenting ALS Canada with the cheque of the funds raised from the Don Doan Dash 5K in September. Wear your Don Doan shirts!

Mike B, you’ve have been toiling all Summer and Fall in the 5 Peaks Trail Races. Congratulations for sticking with it under some crazy conditions! Amazing!
Next weekend we have Hamilton coming up. At least 10 Benders so far registered in the Full or half. Hope the weather holds out. It would probably be a good idea to visit your local Value Village to pick up some throw away jackets and pants just in case.
After the race get together at Oscars Roadhouse at 4pm on Sunday to celebrate. Please plan to come, whether you raced or not.
Congratulations to all the Benders who participated in the Scotia Waterfront races. Especially Ariellia – a new PB in the Half – 1:52, Kevin 1:48, Dave 1:38, Walter, a PB 2:01, Samantha, Lorraine you beat your goal. Alain, heard you had some issues near the end, hope all is well.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend. For Mid October, the weather was fine. Now its time to lose those extra pounds from the weekends meals.
Fun fact. 1 slice of Pumpkin Pie – 350 calories
The average runner burns 100 calories per kilometer.
First of the big fall races were this weekend. Congratulations to our Chicago Marathoners – Grace, Firmo, and Rob…his first
Congratulations also to Michelle on her half in Boston.

Just a quick shout out to all our Bender friends racing in Ottawa this weekend for the Ottawa Race Weekend . This is a popular race in our nation’s capital and it looks like the weather will be great, maybe even a bit hot. Good luck to everyone racing this one!
Tomorrow is a big race day in the GTA. We have the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon in Toronto and the Mississauga Marathon in Mississauga. Why these two races are on the same day and in such close proximity, I have no idea. Every year we have our group picking which of these 2 races they will be doing. This year is no exception and we have Bender representation at both races. So good luck to all our Bender friends running these races. The weather looks like it will be another beauty of a day. Enjoy it!
We have finally got some good weather and today was a beauty. It is about time! It seemed the winter would never end but alas it is only April so we know it will get colder before it gets hotter. That is ok though because that fresh spring weather is perfect for running. That fresh spring weather is what we hope for for all our Bender runners participating in one of several races coming up.
First up we have 2 races tomorrow. We have the Toronto Yonge St. 10K. A fast downhill course in, you guessed it, Toronto. We also have the Run4Hope right here in Brampton. This is a nice small race that is always lots of fun.
Of course we can not forget to mention the Boston Marathon. The race so many marathon runners aim to qualify for. We have 5 Benders down for the race this year. This year Randall, Todd, Ivar, Amanda and Beth will be running the race. For those wondering how to get live race coverage, you can check out this link. What an exciting race this must be.
We wish everyone racing the best of luck and the best weather. Have a great race all!
There are many options to this sold out event. There are your standard kids races, 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon and then there are the challenges. The Goofy Challenge which is the half marathon on the Saturday followed by the full marathon on the Sunday and the Dopey Challenge which begins on Thursday and has people running all the distances, 5K on Thursday, 10K on Friday, half marathon on Saturday and a full on Sunday to finish it off. I am tired just writing all of that out.
We have 13 members all doing the challenges and we want to wish them all a fantastic race, or 4 races. Good luck to you all and have fun!
With December comes the holiday season and everyone gets in to hyper busy mode, myself included. In the midst of the beginning of holiday season I forgot to post a shout out to a few of our Benders racing.
Congrats to Beth and Elaine for running the Space Coast Marathon in Florida on the 30th of Nov. Elaine came in first in her age group in this race. Way to go ladies.
We also have Karen down in beautiful Jamaica for the Reggae Marathon this past weekend. Congrats Karen.
Coming up next is the EggNog Jog and then in January a good number of Benders are heading down to Florida for the Disney Marathon . More to come on that later. Happy Holidays everyone!
