This Week – Nov. 6th

Congratulations to the Hamilton and New York Runners! Hope you ran well in New York Shana, looking forward to your stories. And Hamilton…..brutal! Pouring and driving rain at the start, and what about that hard 20 km wind! It sure wore you down, but we finished. Now a brief lull between the big races. We have the Egg Nog Jog coming up Dec 10. This Week – Oct. 30

Congratulations Tony and your completion of the Dublin Marathon – And in your Bender race shirt too! Mike B, you’ve have been toiling all Summer and Fall in the 5 Peaks Trail Races. Congratulations for sticking with it under some crazy conditions! Amazing! Next weekend we have Hamilton coming up. At least 10 Benders so far registered in the Full or half. Hope the weather holds out. Congratulations to all the Benders who participated in the Scotia Waterfront races. Especially Ariellia – a new PB in the Half – 1:52, Kevin 1:48, Dave 1:38, Walter, a PB 2:01, Samantha, Lorraine you beat your goal. Alain, heard you had some issues near the end, hope all is well. Congratulations to Ines and her marathon run in the Rock N Roll Marathon Lisbon, Portugal.  Also congratulations to Jackie, Alain and everyone else who ran the Niagara Falls International Marathon. Apparently the weather was good but the heavy winds were a factor. Well done all! Congratulations to any other Bender racers we missed. This Week – Oct. 9th

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend. For Mid October, the weather was fine. Now its time to lose those extra pounds from the weekends meals. Fun fact. 1 slice of Pumpkin Pie – 350 calories The average runner burns 100 calories per kilometer.   First of the big fall races were this weekend. 2 big races in the GTA

Tomorrow is a big race day in the GTA. ?We have the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon??in Toronto and the Mississauga Marathon in Mississauga. ?Why these two races are on the same day and in such close proximity, I have no idea. ?Every year we have our group picking which of these 2 races they will be doing. ?This year is no exception and we have Bender representation at both races. ?So good luck to all our Bender friends running these races. ?The weather looks like it will be another beauty? Race Season is Upon Us

We have finally got some good weather?and?today was a beauty. ?It is about time! It seemed the winter would never end but alas it is only April so we know it will get colder before it gets hotter. ?That is ok though because that fresh spring weather is perfect for running. ?That fresh spring weather is what we hope for for all our Bender runners participating in one of several races coming up. Run Disney

The Benders have invaded Florida! ?A bunch of the group went down to participate in the Run Disney marathon weekend.

There are many options to this sold out event. ?There are your standard kids races, 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon and then there are the challenges. The Goofy Challenge which is the half marathon on the Saturday followed by the full marathon on the Sunday and the Dopey Challenge which begins on Thursday and has people running all the distances, 5K on Thursday, 10K on Friday, half marathon on Saturday and a full on Sunday to finish it off. ?I am tired just writing all of that out.

We have 13 members all doing the challenges and we want to wish them all a fantastic race, or 4 races. ?Good luck to you all and have fun!

 

Better Late Than Never

With December comes the holiday season and everyone gets in to hyper busy mode, myself included. ?In the midst of the beginning of holiday season I forgot to post a shout out to a few of our Benders racing. Congrats to Beth and Elaine for running the Space Coast Marathon in Florida on the 30th of Nov. ?Elaine came in first in her age group in this race. Way to go ladies.
